Targeted initiatives for adults and senior segments
Adults:
1. NLB Mobile
The app provides convenient access to library information and transaction on a single platform. With the app, users can borrow eBooks and read them online, pay fees, sign up for library membership and more.
2. AskST@NLB talks
Since April 2016, NLB worked with The Straits Times to deliver a series of monthly talks on a range of topics from finance, education and heritage. These talks were well-received among adults and seniors and the series will continue for a second year in 2017.
3. Read@Work programmes
For organisations that want to promote a reading culture among their employees, NLB provides curated short reads on topics relevant to working professionals. NLB also works with its partners to organise reading related activities, including mass reading sessions and corporate storytelling talks.
Seniors:
1. Read@Community
The initiative loans books to community centres and senior activity centres to set up reading corners. NLB increased the number of library corners at senior activity centres from 11 in 2015, to 15 in 2016. The aim is to double the number of corners to 30 by 2020.
