Why PIXEL?
A pixel is the smallest unit of a digital image. Put together, they form a richer, larger picture on a digital device. In choosing the name PIXEL, we believe that every creative idea, however small, can lay the foundation for bigger and better content. With PIXEL Labs and PIXEL Studios, we hope to see collages of great ideas that will make an impact on businesses and lives.
PIXEL Studios (Creators’ Space and Games Solution Centre)
Creator’s Space and the Games Solution Centre (GSC) are now co-located together, and together are collectively known as PIXEL Studios. PIXEL Studios will house creative spaces for online content creators and game developers, to encourage experimentation and the creation of innovative content. Initiatives that support these aims such as Story Labs will be hosted at PIXEL Studios as well.
Creators’ Space is about boosting the digital film and video sectors holistically by establishing more collaborations within the community. It will also be a space where the capabilities of our media professionals are developed by IMDA run master-classes and workshops, to develop relevant capabilities such as production and business development skills.
The Games Solution Centre (GSC), managed by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), is a one-stop resource centre for Singapore small-medium game businesses to help them develop and prototype their games. It has incubated over 50 game start-ups since 2011, and hosted over 4500 industry members for workshops, events and programmes.
