The National Library regularly curates and presents exhibitions that showcase its collections. The themes revolve around Singapore’s history, literary and cultural heritage and the arts. Complementary programmes, public engagement and publications are also organised in conjunction with exhibitions to maximise their impact.
In 2014, an exhibition on a Singapore literary pioneer, Poet & Reformist: Khoo Seok Wan, was shown. Another major exhibition highlighting NLB’s Singapore and Southeast Asian map collection, GeoGraphics: Celebrating Maps and their Stories, was launched in January 2015.
Exhibitions are also organised to complement other NLB initiatives such as the Singapore Memory Project and Read.Write.Tell initiative. Hands: Gift of a Generation, an SMP exhibition, was launched in the Woodlands Regional Library, presenting memories of Pioneer Generation Singaporeans. Books That Moved Me, an exhibition cum MRT campaign on books that evoke fond memories of reading, was launched in conjunction with the Read! Fest 2014.
