S'pore and Republic of Korea sign 2nd Cultural Executive Programme


Singapore and the Republic of Korea signed a 2nd Cultural Executive Programme (CEP) to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of arts, heritage, media and design. The new addition in this CEP is the cooperation in the media and design areas. The 1st 3-year CEP was signed in 1996.

2.     The 2nd 3-year CEP was signed in Seoul on 30th March 2005 by Mr Lim Soo Ping, Deputy Secretary (Info and the Arts) of the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), Singapore, and Mr Koo Bon-Woo, Director General of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Republic of Korea.

3.     The CEP will provide for cooperation in the following areas:

a) Enhanced collaboration and exchange between the two countries in the area of the visual arts,

b) Increased mutual exchanges in the performing arts;

c) Loan of Korean artefacts for exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore;

e) Increased industry cooperation in the areas of media development, including film and broadcasting;

f) Increased exchanges and sharing for the creation of content for game software, including greater commercial presence of Singapore animation gaming companies in Korea and vice versa; and

f) Enhanced exchanges and mutual participation in each country's design events or competitions.

4.     In addition to signing the CEP, Mr Lim and a delegation of MICA officials will be attending a Joint Cultural Meeting with their Korean counterparts to discuss the implementation of the CEP.
