M'sia Minister for Information in S'pore for Muzika Ekstravaganza

Dato' Sri Abdul Kadir bin Haji Sheikh Fadzir, Malaysian Minister of Information will be in Singapore for the inaugural Muzika Ekstravaganza, a musical gala jointly produced by MediaCorp Singapore and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). The show will be the highlight of Dato Sri Abdul Kadir's official visit from 23 - 24 April 2005 at the invitation of Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.

2.     Dr Lee Boon Yang and Dato' Sri Abdul Kadir will officiate at Muzika Ekstravaganza on 23 April. The production, to be telecast live to Singapore and Malaysia audiences simultaneously, reflects the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and Malaysia. It also underscores ongoing bilateral efforts to further strengthen this relationship.

3.     The idea of a joint musical gala goes back to the 1980s when the national broadcasters of Singapore and Malaysia jointly produced the popular Rampai Sari. In December last year, Dr Lee met Dato' Sri Abdul Kadir in Kuala Lumpur and both Ministers agreed to resume the annual variety show. They also agreed that Singapore will host the first show this year.

4.     During his visit, Dato' Sri Abdul Kadir will call on Dr Lee and visit several places including Reflections at Bukit Chandu and the Esplanade.

5.     Dato' Abdul Kadir is accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Information, Malaysia and RTM.
