Singapore and Thailand sign MoU on cooperation in the field of information and communications technology (ICT)

Singapore and Thailand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 31 May 2016 to formalise the two countries’ cooperation in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). The MoU was signed by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information, Singapore, and Dr Uttama Savanayana, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Thailand. The MoU signing took place against the backdrop of the Ministerial Forum on ICT and the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) 2016.
2 The MoU covers cooperation in areas such as developing electronic government services; boosting Digital Technology start-up ecosystems; sharing both countries' experiences in cyber security; as well as training and capacity development programmes. It promotes exchanges of views, experiences and knowledge in the field of ICT, and strengthens the strong relations between Singapore and Thailand and their respective ICT sectors.
3 The MoU also affirms the commitment of Singapore and Thailand to the integration of ASEAN through cooperation in the field of ICT.
