National Geographic and the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) have jointly launched a new #WhatMakesSG campaign today to celebrate the passion that has been driving Singapore’s rapid progression since its founding, and explore how the city-state is taking steps to seize future possibilities in its path. Held in honour of Singapore’s 53rd National Day, local and international audiences can look forward to a photography contest, special Singapore edition National Geographic magazine, and long-form documentary airing exclusively on National Geographic channels. 

2 From now till 22 May, Singaporeans and Singapore residents are invited to share their authentic perspectives of what makes the country an exciting place to live, work and play through the #WhatMakesSG photography contest. Entries will be judged by a panel comprising renowned international National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita, Singaporean-born Nobel Peace Prize photographer Sim Chiyin, and representatives from MCI and National Geographic.

3 A special Singapore edition National Geographic magazine will follow in August 2018 to showcase how Singapore is constantly evolving and reinventing herself to seize future opportunities, and the people who dream big on this little island-state.

4 The campaign will conclude with a one-hour documentary on how Singapore is future-proofing herself in areas such as digital economy, urban planning, and education, which will be aired exclusively on National Geographic channels.
