Singapore and Brunei today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the two countries’ cooperation in the field of info-communications, media and post (ICM). The MoU was signed by Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Singapore, and Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Communications, Brunei Darussalam.

Under the MoU, Singapore and Brunei will deepen their existing ties and promote further exchanges in field of ICM. These include organising training and capability development programmes for participants from both countries, organising regular bilateral exchanges, and knowlege sharing on key ICM issues such as telecommunications and media regulations, postal services, data regulation, innovation, industry development and human capital development.

President Halimah Yacob and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, had noted the conclusion of the MoU negotiations during President Halimah’s State Visit to Brunei from 11 to 14 May 2018. The MoU reflects the growing cooperation between Singapore and Brunei across a wide range of sectors, and affirms the commitment of Singapore and Brunei Darussalam to the integration of ASEAN through cooperation in the field of ICM.
