New dialect drama “How Are You?”《好世谋》to debut next year


A new 16-episode dialect drama series, “How Are You?” 《好世谋》 (“Ho Seh Bo”),  will premiere from 4 January 2019, every Friday from 11.30am to 12.30pm, on Channel 8’s existing dialect belt.

2 This is a collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and Mediacorp, as part of the ministry’s continuous efforts to keep seniors updated on the latest government initiatives through entertainment in a familiar platform and language.

3 Following the resounding success of four seasons of “Eat Already?” 《吃饱没?》, 《好世谋》 will highlight the new government policies and programmes which will benefit seniors, such as CareShield Life, the Community Networks for Seniors (CNS), and address issues such as cost of living, healthcare affordability and vigilance against scams and fake news. The drama series will also address social issues such as the stigma of mental illness and loneliness among the elderly.

4 “With the positive public feedback garnered from the 《吃饱没?》 series, 《好世谋》 gives us a good opportunity to continue our work in reaching out to seniors, including the Merdeka Generation, and communicating with them on upcoming government schemes and initiatives,” says Ms Karen Tan, Senior Director, Public Communications Division, Ministry of Communications and Information.

Zheng Ge Ping’s first TV drama as Executive Producer

5 Veteran actor, Zheng Ge Ping, who crossed over to be an Executive Producer (EP) early this year, will be taking on the EP role for 《好世谋》. “This is my first drama project on Channel 8 as an Executive Producer and it has been really meaningful for me because of the trending issues concerning seniors in their daily lives. I hope that this drama will bring laughter and tears to our viewers, by showing how a group of young and the old bonded by a strong community spirit can make a difference, as we move towards an ageing population,” says Ge Ping.

6 The dialect drama will be helmed by popular artistes, Chen Li Ping, Zhu Hou Ren and Richard Low. Making a surprise cameo appearance after a decade since her last Mediacorp collaboration, is veteran award-winning Hong Kong actress Michelle Yim (米雪), whom audiences can look forward to. Audience can also expect romantic sparks between Romeo Tan and Sheila Sim and a love triangle between Ya Hui, Desmond Ng and Joshua Tan.
