The Translation Talent Development Scheme (TTDS) is offered to Singaporean translation & interpretation (T&I) practitioners from the private sector, who fulfil the selection criteria. Applicants must have at least one year of combined experience in translation and/or interpretation and be working in the following language pairs: English and Chinese, English and Malay, or English and Tamil. Successful applicants are rigorously selected by a panel of assessors. What does the TTDS support? The TTDS supports the following categories of capability development programme(s) related to translation, interpretation and/or languages in Singapore and overseas: short courses, workshops and intensive summer courses courses that lead to a full qualification (e.g. Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Postgraduate diploma, Master’s degree) conferences, seminars and webinars certification examinations Programmes of a duration of up to one year must start OR end between/on 1 April of the application year and 31 March of the following year to be eligible. For example, for an application submitted in 2023, the start OR end date of the programme(s) must be between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024 (both dates inclusive). Programmes of a duration exceeding one year (e.g. degree and postgraduate courses) must end within three years of the application by 31 March. For example, for an application submitted in 2023, the programme must end by 31 March 2026. How will recipients benefit? The TTDS covers 90 per cent of expenses incurred in the participation of capability development programme(s), subject to a cap of S$10,000 per recipient. Applicants may propose to attend multiple programmes, so long as they are within the period of eligibility. How does it work? Recipients will receive reimbursements for expenses according to the reimbursement schedule below: Programme First Tranche Second Tranche Short courses, workshops, conferences, seminars, webinars, certification examinations (≤14days) Full approved funding amount* Upon submitting: proof of acceptance/ enrolment proof of payment proof of successful completion Not Applicable Longer courses and workshops (>14 days); courses that lead to a full qualification 20% of the estimated funding amount^ Upon submitting: proof of acceptance/ enrolment proof of payment Remainder of approved funding amount* excluding First Tranche payment Upon submitting: proof of successful completion proof of additional payment, if any *90% of the actual costs and fees covered, with a cap of $10,000. ^Based on the estimated costs and fees covered as stated in the recipient's application, with a cap of $2,000.
